suggestions for foot pain

my mother has fibromialgia and has been diagnosed for years but rencently her feet have been bothering her horribly to the point where she has to stay off them for days. They become red and swell up to about twice their normal size and very tender. when she went to the pediatrist she was told it was her fibromyalgia working its way to her feet. My question is, is there any suggestions other that pain killers to help her feet feel better when she walks and help them not to be swollen. I'm probably asking for the usual answeres of foot soaks and better shoes and shoe supports but i feel the need to ask. thank you.

I'd go to the doctor for foot pain.  Foot pain and swelling can be an indicator of many different problems-and sometimes, nothing more than a flare up.  That's the pain with FMS....you never know if it's an FMS flair up, or something else :-/

Hi,
I have foot pain too. My feet hurt in the morning as soon as they hit the ground! Also I had to have surgery on my left foot for a neuroma (nerve bundle). The surgery helped but also gave me a tender, painful scar. Not sure if I'd do it again. I now have two more neuroma's in the same foot!! I know you already mentioned it but if I didn't have a custom arch, I'd be in big trouble! It takes alot of my pain away! The other thing is also what you said, staying off your feet & also elevating them whenever possible. Good luck & I hope she feels better. I would have her feet checked by a good foot doctor in case there is something else going on besides fibro. Many times "fibromites" are misdiagnosed & told that every pain we have is fibro!

the heat can cause fibro flares. Also the usual advice of limiting salt. Good luck to her,
