unusual tendon pain

Hi everyone

OK Im not sure how to define this or even describe it accurately or if this is even the correct forum but here goes.

For the past few years I have been more and more susceptible to, what I call "tendon pain." It is not muscular as I have worked out at gyms for many years and know what muscular pain feels like.

This condition, syndrome, deficiency, or whatever it is, is not specific to a particular area although it tends to be mainly in the joint areas but not limited too them.

Currently, the pain is in both arms and hurts when I require any significant load to be done by my arms...(i.e. picking up my daughter). It will also hurt sometimes when I rotate the arm and put on a load...(i.e. lifting yourself up and out of a swimming pool)

The pain is sharp but I can control it by "easing" up the load.

What is strange about the condition is that although it is constant, It is NOT constantly in the same place. (i.e. it may be my arms this month and next month or two it will be an elbow or a knee) it seems im perpetually injured.

Additional info is that I seem to be more prone to injury. What, in the past, would have been a minor bump or hit will now take months to heal and often leads to this tendon pain. Im a slight build person but have worked out in gyms for over 15 years and have played sports most of my life.

So my question is this....Do I have a syndrome of some sort. A vitamin or mineral deficiency? I dont think this is an age issue as I am not THAT old (43).

It just seems very odd. Ive talked to some doctors (here in Poland where I am currently) about it and they tested for arthritis antibodies but there were none present. But like I said this isnt bone or joint pain...its tendon.

Can someone get tendinitis this way even though its not a repetitive type of issue like carpel tunnel?

Im at a loss.

It affects my life in that I can not be as sport oriented as I have always been, and I have lost body mass because I can not workout in the gym as much or as regerrous (spelling?) as before.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Yes, I understand.  It is typically called the muscle-tendon unit as they are linked together.

Since you describe having unrefreshing sleep, it may benefit you to see a rheumatologist for a thorough workup and dx.  They know the trigger points of FMS and can also rule out other illnesses that could be causing you pain.  A sleep-study may help as well.

Get well soon.

Hi everyone

I guess i should qualify that Im not having disabling pain...more just an annoyance at this point.

VaBreeze - I think maybe you misread my post as my pain IS tendon pain and not muscular.

I've recently did a little reading on FM and I also have the symptom of not feeling rested after a nights sleep.  I guess the hard part of all this is that the symptoms I have COULD be a result of other problems or conditions.

Sorry you are in so much pain.  Of course, only a physician would able to detect any type of vitamin or mineral deficiency.  There are a number of ailments that could be related.  If the only symptom you are having is soreness in your muscles, then it's most likely not FMS or CFS.

If you take a look in our Health Pages, we have information regarding the symptoms of FMS and CFS.  You could use this to compare to what you are experiencing.  There are a number of tests that should be done to rule out other illness, prior to a dx of FMS/CFS.  Please refer to the "Newly Diagnosed" post in the Health Pages.  You can discuss this more with your doctor to see what he/she feels is necessary in the way of testing.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi,

I certainly relate to your weired tendon pain.....for me it is mostly surrounding my knees and it does go around and around and changes locations.  I know I have Tendonitis, I also have Fibromyalgia Syndrome,  ME/CFS, Addison Disease.  It is very difficult to decifer where the pain begins/from what ailments and where it ends.

I'm sorry I cannot be more help to you but to say, I TRULY UNDERSTAND.  I hope knowing you're not the only 'weird' ones will give you some comfort?  giggles.

Have a less pain day.
