Acid Reflux

Hi,
        I have acid reflux problem for quite a while I have been coughing for last two years after 6 months of tests consultant told me acid is coming back to my throat and causing fungus and that's the reason i am coughing and having sore throat almost all the time I have been on Nexium (Esomeprazole) 20mg twice a day for 15years and my doctor has put me on Ranitidine 150mg twice a day and also chewing renee here and there but end result its not working but my doctor is not listening whenever I go to see him he fobs me off I wonder if there is someone or something can help me. Thanks

  HI...I have to ask, did ur Dr have u modify ur diet and lifestyle as well as rx the meds?

Chewing a sugar free gum will help u naturally produce more saliva which heps break down the acids.....(stay away from mints tho)

Do look at the foods that r safe and those to avoid, keep a journal as many times foods that r safe may not be 4 u......http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236

  Have u had a test to check the PH to see if ur acid levels were too high?...if they r too low, u would feel the same....and the meds could just make u feel worse....take to ur GI dr about getting a PH test done.
