Bravo ph

I had the bravo ph test done a couple weeks ago. My doctor said the score was 75 and followed that with an "ouch". I have a hiatal hernia, and respiratory symptoms seemingly related to gerd. He says I am a candidate for surgery.   My question is - in laymans's terms, what does the score mean? I can't find anything online that indicates ranges for anything that is above the norm.

Thanks. I do intend to go forward, so I will keep you posted. This is all very new for me. I had no idea that GERD caused so many issues. The doc says the next for me is manometry to determine how tight the wrap should be.  I also have esophageal spasms, so I think that is part of the reason for the test as well. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

If anyone out there has had recurring pneumonia or bronchial issues with tight chest and so on that does not respond to antibiotics or steroids; please get checked for GERD.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

I do not know much about this test other then it helps determine if u have high or low acid issues....and in reviewing some info online the score is not the only thing to be considered when reviewing a BRAVO score....there are so many factors that help a Dr determine what is going on and why I feel u could not find info on the score itself.

I hope others with more experience with this testing will reply....

Good luck and do keep us posted if u intend to go forward with ur surgery.
