Frustrated

by Flutters9702, Jun 18, 2009 10:16AM
I have been to the gastro twice and my family doctor several times.  I have been on three medications and nothing has helped my gerd.  Also I get heart flutters with excessive burping.  Had a ekg and 24hr heart monitor and alll came back normal.   I notice others on this forum that have had the same symptoms.  I have IBS and do notice that I feel worse when this flares up.  Am just wondering if anyone has gotton some relief.  Does anyone now of a natural cure or remedy to help my gerd?  I am very frustrated.

HI and welcome to the GERD forum.

Ur symptoms do sound like so many here, u r right about that. I would also suggest u have ur thyroid checked out......I was have the heart flutters or as I called them palps...and had my heart checked...I also have hashimoto's thyroiditis.....and since being on the thyroid med synthroid, I do not have them ne longer.

In addition to the meds ur dr has tried for u have u changed ur diet and lifestyle?? It is a must along with meds in order to see results......we have a list of tips in our health Pages...u can access thru the the HP icon above the recent activities on the left of the page or use the link in the welcome message at the top of the forum.

Would they find hasimoto's throiditis in a regular blood test for your throid?  I just had throid tests done last week and nothing showed up.

From how they explained it to me in the Thyroid forum.....NO....bcuz they may only be looking at TSH t3 and t4   and for Hashimoto's they really should be looking at TSH, FREE T 3  and FREE T4 TPO antibodies........also there is a new range for hashi's that not all labs r using making it more diff to get the drs to recognize hashi's......

I am sure if u have ur lab report and post it on the thyroid forum, the well informed folks there can tell u alot more than I can.....post both the results and the range used by the lab.

Let me know what u find out.

Hi

I too have Hashimotos disorder, or so they tell me almost 15 years ago now. I have been up and down with my meds over these years, and if i miss taking it for more than 2 days, my TSH levels go through the roof. My current doctor now reckons I have GERD also. He referred me to a specialist which took me 6 months to get into to see him. I was in his office for 2 minutes and all he did was prescribe a pill, Nexium. He said take it for 4 weeks then come back and see me for further investigation. I think Im a GERD sufferer but i am not sure, it feels like Cancer the symptoms are so severe and chronic, my blood pressure is always normal, my heart tests are good and my lung xrays showed nothing. I am completly frustrated by this ailment. Please help.
