You probably have low pressure in your esophagus(a part and parcel of GERD). Hiatus hernia may/may not be there but in most cases it is not a big deal.
What anxiety meds are you taking? Some sedatives lower the esophagal pressure that keeps food from entering the esophagus from the stomach. If you are taking an SSRI (Fluoxetine,Paroxetine etc), take it with breakfast to avoid irritating the stomach. If you are taking any anti-anxolytics (Alprazolam, Clonazepam etc), take them after dinner.
Try the following:
1. Prilosec OTC (Omaprazole 20mg) once a day. (PPIs reduce acid production in the stomach)
2. Domperidone 10 mg 3 times a day ( Increases pressure in the esophagus)
3. Eliminate coffee, aerated drinks and alchohol.
4. Eat several small meals through the day while avoiding large meals.
Hi...I would suggest u pay attention to ur colon health...make sure u r regular. And do u know were u checked for a hiatal hernia?....Smetimes when u have the Hhernia....u get the reflux when bending or if clothing is too tight.
It is important to watch ur diet as well...and there r lifestyle changes one should make to aid the meds in helping u feel better.
Please see the Health Pages here on MedHelp for info on diet and lifestyle changes.
Good luck

I am also very gassy too. Like I can just feel my stomache and when I press on my lower abdomen it kind of feels spongey like I can just move gas bubbles around. Its discomforting and I am tired of dealing with this everyday
