Gerd and cough.

I have a hiatus hernia and gerd and I take nexium. Recently I started coughing ?acid or saliva while sleeping. It is annoying and wakes me up. However I find it is relieved by emptying my bladder, why is this? Do I need to worry?

It's far more likely the result of your getting up out of a reclining position and walking to the bathroom allowing gravity and some coughing and swallowing to help you drain the fluid from your throat and esophagus away from your airway.  Can't imagine any specific connection of coughing to the bladder.

Hi,
Coughing while sleeping could be due to acid reflux.
Getting relief is not related in anyway to emptying the bladder.
For nighttime symptoms take zantac at bedtime in addition to the nexium you take.
