Acidic Vomit a few hours after eating cheese and/or other dairy products

Hello, I have been reading on GERD and other Gastric problems online. But I have fallen short of finding something that is specifically like what keeps happening to me.

When I eat dairy products (any of them) I get this acidic taste in my mouth I start having more saliva (that seems acidic) After a few hours, in some cases not all, I will feel sick and vomit. When I do vomit, alot of pressure builds, my stomach hurt really bad, and its often a dispute between my nose and mouth. Just last friday I felt like I had burnt my nose and throat it was horrible.

I used to try and take milk to sooth what they kept saying was simple Acid reflux at the beggining but with time I found out I was not helping myself and making it worse, I would simply vomit more and it would be curdled milk.

I tried taking calcium tablets such as Tums and whatnot, I vomited those 15-30mins after ingestion. Came up as a foamy white fluff before the "acid vomit" I can't seem to try Peptobismol since just the smell makes me gag.

I also find that if I eat alot of cheese in a dish (with the rest of the dish itself) an hour or 2 later I will be sick and most of the vomit will be liquid if not all (as if I ate nothing)

I thought digesting took longer.

I'm aware I should avoid dairies altogueter but I simply enjoy them so much I find it hard to avoid them!

If anyone has any insight on this I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

I am tired of throwing up so often. I was stressed when I moved to Texas so now I can't eat dairy And small meals. I tried Zantac which works good on acid not dairy.

That was a mistake. Milk only makes the vomiting worst. The only thing you should drink is Gatorade and stay away from dairy products. I know yesterday I couldn't stop throwing up and I thought water would help but milk cheese and other dairy products along with water make you throw up more. Hope this helps you and feel better. May god bless you.

For 3 years I was nauseaus and vomiting, no gastrointestinal or any other doctor could diagnosis my condition.  They looked at me like I was stupid.  Which is a very annoying habit of unknowledgeable doctors. They all knew I had severe acid reflux, erosive esophagus, hiatus hernia.
Finally, I noticed milk products of any kind made me sick.  Lactaid does help, but mainly I never eat or drink milk products.  I haven't been sick in almost a year.
My newest gastro dr said milk products are hard to digest and people with GERD can have this problem.
No yogurt, no pudding, no milk, no cheese, no creamers, no peanut butter, no butter, sometimes certain oil upsets it, no fried foods.

I am very interested in what you have found out.  My 11 year old son is having almost identical symptoms to you.  Would you please advise?  We've been struggling with this since last March and he has gone through the whole GI and allergy workup already.
Thanks!

Hi...dairy products can slow an already slow LES....and this can allow bile and acids back up into ur throat where u do not want it  as the sphincter is not closed to hold it back.

See a GI dr to get tested to see if this is the issue, and try to eat ur dairy  earlier in the day to allow the effects to wear off...if this is in fact ur issue.

Good luck and do post an update : )

Thanks for the reply, I suppose I will have to speak to my doctor, I find that when I have coffee with the non dairy liquid whitener, I do not get sick. If I use a cream whitener, I get the acidic taste in my mouth almost instantly. I'm guessing they can test specifically for that. What a bad thing to be allergic to. This makes me sad.

That *****. I love cheese too. Maybe you could try lactose free dairy products and see if that helps. It's possible that you might have developed an alergy to dairy though so you might not have a choice but to avoid it altogether. Sorry.   If that's the case and you keep eating it, you could cause yourself more problems than you can bare so beware.
