I can understand that, I was not aware of negative affects of Acid prohibitors and Non-Inflammatory or nsaids(Advil), as far as I know the nsaids do reduce the fine mucus lining of the stomach, but the damage comes into play when stomach acid burns the area where the nsaid removes the mucus, and this in turn causes the acid to burn that area, causing an inflamed stomach lining. So by taking an acid pump inhibitor, you are reducing or shutting down acid production, and counteracting the result of the nsaid on the stomach lining. The night time cold medications are only combinations of either Tylenol or Ibuprofene (nsaid) and anti-histamines, which help you sleep by making you drowsey, but you can avoid the nsaid, by just taking a 25mg of Benadryl, which contains 25mg of antihistamine and a little Acetaminophen, the same ingredient of Tylenol. You can check interactions and side effects of drugs at www.drugs.com, you can register for free and it will keep track of your medications and any interactions they may have with each other. The thing is, while taking Pepcid, any anti inflammatory drugs can have a serious negative effect. I'm not sure if I should still take Advil or NyQuil or Tylenol, since I'm only supposed to take Pepcid 40 mg during bedtime. I just don't want any more negative side effects.
I'm already dealing with liver lesions and Acid Reflux.
It may be to late this time because the cold or flu has taken hold in your system, But it might be good to purchase a bag of "Cold Ease" at your local drug store or Walgreens, they are Zinc, which really help ease symptoms of the Common Cold, and the duration of the cold is cut shorter. They are not for a prevention, you don't want to take zinc everyday, but as soon as you feel a cold coming on, then take them, they have different flavors, they may leave an aftertaste in your mouth, but they are worth the aftertaste, you could always use a candy or something to rid the aftertaste later. The other thing is to keep up your intake of Vitamin C, Pepcid does nothing for colds, it is a stomach acid inhibitor and treats Acid Reflux, Gerd or heartburn, has nothing to do with Colds or Flu, You can take Advil for muscle aches due to colds, it is an anti-inflamatory for muscles.
