Post-Nissan Funoplication breathing problems

Hello,
I had this procedure done about 10 weeks ago & have had steadily increasing severe asthma-like symptoms that barely respond to inhalers, nebulizers or even most recently a prednisone boost.  I have added prilosec back 20mg 2x/day although that never alleviated my symptoms which have always been primarily breathing related.  My doctor initially suggested my lungs were simply healing & it's similar to a post-smoking quitter's cough.  But I now sound like someone who has copd.  My symptoms are cyclical- worst first thing in the morning and best when my stomach is empty if I skip breakfast, about 3 hrs after I wake up.  They seem to worsen into a bronchial spasm a couple hours after I eat.  I have repeatedly asked my doctor for advice and he has finally referred me to get a barium test but I have found him otherwise too passive, seemingly too concerned with defending the adequacy of the procedure.  I have much less interest in blame & more in resolution of what feels like potentially  life-threatening symptoms!  My purpose for having the procedure was to improve breathing as part of my plan to get pregnant soon.  The surgeon suggested I have the surgery before pregnancy & now pregnancy seems even less of a healthy option (for me, but mainly for a baby).  Any advice is appreciated!  Should I expect possible improvement later?  Should I change my diet & even go back to a liquid diet?

I'm well researched on all things GERD & am mainly wondering about post-nissan complications. I had hernia fixed during surgery, had barium test 3 weeks ago- showed no irregularities.  I'm getting it done again since i've worsened.  I will do whatever i can to avoid that 24-hr ph test again.

I'm wondering about anecdotal advice- lifestyle or diet changes if anyone with similar GERD symptoms (breathing problems & acid reflux, but no heartburn) experienced this AFTER surgery & got results from any major lifestyle/diet changes. I've tried a few adjustments (albeit non-commitedly)- but am always still irritated.  I asked for 2nd opinion but HMOs don't love it when you ask to go out of network.  we'll see.  I'm getting by but am wondering if folks have any directly relevant experience?  I'm skeptical of these open forums & non-accredited "experts" giving advice (which can be distracting), but I'm open to sharing insights if anyone's game... thanks.

HI and welcome. I am so sorry u r distressed and not getting to the root of ur issues.
May I ask, did u have the barium tests done?

Do u know if u have a hiatial hernia? There r some conditions that will affect breathing.
Stress will add to the problem....

If u r not convinved that ur dr is working to help u, get a second opinion.

Are u still on a PPI and if so how long r u taking it?

Have u made lifestyle changes to aid in feeling better?.....foods to avoid ect.

Do u feel bloated?

Please update
