I'm a 67-year-old male and is suffering with recurring excruciating upper abdominal pain. This pain wraps around my abdomen from one side of my rib cage to the other. The amazing thing to me about this problem is that it occurs like clockwork every 4 to 6 weeks. The pain literally knocks me off my feet for two days and then dissipates. I do not smoke, drink, nor eat spicy, fried or fatty foods. I take medications that, upon research, should not interfere with the stomach lining. I presented myself to my gastroenterologist with this illness. An endoscopic inspection of the stomach was performed a few weeks after my appointment to find mild gastritis. Also, an MRA of the abdomen was taken to inspect blood vessels. Results were negative. The third option, which has not been performed, is laparoscopic surgery for possible adhesions since I have had multiple abdominal surgeries. my G.I. said that the gastritis he found should not give that degree of pain. I'm hoping to find some relief from this ongoing dilemma as the pain is becoming unbearable.
