Reducing acid reflux naturally. What actually works?

I read of so many natural ways to help reduce or cure heartburn and acid reflux.
I'd like to hear from people who did find a natural help. What specifically worked from you?
Did excersize help, did losing weight help? What dietary changes made the biggest impact.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

I was not the original poster of this thread, techman was....but I am doing well..I have been able to control my symptoms with meds only when needed at this point.....I also take a H2B and not PPI's as the PPI''s no longer worked for me.....plus I found out my body was over producing histamines so the H2B is better for that reason.

Talk with your Dr...stopping meds like these can cause rebound which basically is your symptoms returning and sometimes worse then they were b4....you will need your Dr to help you step slowly off the meds....and help you find something better to help you.

@ techman1973- I have not used natural methods alone as I do take a H2b.....but I know that avoiding my food and bev triggers helps...and yes there are lists of food to avoid but we all may have a different list as some food that are safe for me, ,may not be for you so create a list. I also know weight changes  be it losing or gaining can trigger a flare of symptoms....so know that you can continue for a while to have symptoms even if you do lose weight.....but in time things should calm down. Reducing stress can help too...so find a way to relax the beat way you can for you.....I am not on meds for reflux all the time....I only take when I may have a flare or b4 a meal of food that may cause a flare....I only eat those items on occasion and am careful to use the meds so I do not end the day in misery.I have very few flare ups doing things this way and use very little meds....this is done all in conjunction with my Dr.
