Silent Reflux LPR

I have recently been diagnosed with LPR. It took the physician 4 doc visits for him to say I had this condition. He has prescribed prilosec but it's not helping at all. I feel the same way I felt in my first visit. Symptoms include post nasal, burping, feeling like something is in my throat and in the middle of the night coughing and gasping for air. I'm looking to try some alternative ideas. I've spent too much time and money on my doc visit and he hasn't helped one bit! I'm working on changing my diet as well. Do anyone have any suggestions because I'm in need of a miracle. I'm feeling so irritated because my throat always feels like something is in the back of my throat. Someone HELP!!!

Hi Moe and welcome to the GERD forum.

Since you have post nasal drip, you may be on the wrong meds....talk to your Dr about trying a H2blocker instead of a PPI.....

The Dr may want you to stay on the med a bit longer as it does take time to see benefits from these meds,,,,

You will also want to modify your diet and lifestyle as they too can play a role into how you feel...the meds can not alone make you better...BUT if you have any damage to your esophagus the meds can help repair that damage .

Also talk to your Dr about pro biotics to help with how these meds affect your GI track.
