Strange symptoms for reflux

I have been gravely ill with what the doctors thought was extreme GERD, but they did every test in the book and could find nothing!  I was hospitalized twice, they did a stomach emptying test which showed normal, two endoscopies, which were normal, a motility test which was normal, and did a PH test, which was normal, but I was in such severe pain that I was given straight lidocaine to drink for the discomfort.  They still don't know what the problem was, but at one point, was admitted in critical condition.  I was vomiting everything, has explosive diahrrea, had intense burning pain in my esophagus and throat, and they didn't know why.

Anyway, these symptoms are starting to subside a little bit, but know I have a dry cough and I feel like I can't catch my breath!  When I walk just 6 feet, I am completely out of breath!  I know that sometimes if acid reflux is really bad, it can feel like your chest is tight and you can't breathe, but these symptoms have subsided, and I don't even feel any burning at all!

Has anyone had any kind of symptoms like this?  I am really starting to worry, as they didn't check my lungs.  They did say they did a chest x-ray, and it was clear, and they also checked my pancreas.

Any help would be appreciated, as I am really sick of being sick and going to the hospital and ending up with more questions and symptoms than before!

I  definitely will keep on them.  I have another question. I had one of those probes put in my esophagus  to check the PH levels and was told that after a few weeks, it would just detach and go out of my body.  Could it have dislodged and gone somewhere where it shouldn't be?  I'm thinking this could be my breathing problem, like it lodged in my lungs or heart.

My dad was the same way and it went on for way too long...it began to affect his liver....so push the drs to keep checking.

Thank you so much for letting me know about the H. Pylori!  I also haven't felt good since I got sick with whatever they said I have, they actually don't know, but thought it was extreme GERD.

Yes...it is possible to have a mis reading on H.Pylori....my dad went many times over a yr b4 it was discovered on him......he didn't feel like he recovered from his GB surgery and it was the H.P.....once that was addressed he got better....do have them recheck u for it.

Good Luck

They did check for H. Pylori and it was negative.  As far as my gallbladder is concerned, it was removed 2 years ago.  Do the H.Pylori tests sometimes come in a false reading?  Because I have thought of that and thought about getting another test done.

Hi...was ur Gall Bladder checked and how about H.Pylori?....the symptoms u mention could be from either of these and many times even tho checked can be missed.....I know someone that went to the ER several times a month for several months b4 GB issues were finally found...after recovering from the surgery, still had issues and was 1 yr until the H.Pylori was found.....
