needing help

I have a seven year old son who has been sick off and on now for at least 4-5 months.
In the beginning it started with vomitting once or more a day- everyday.
The vomitting went away for two weeks and then started back again, however it does not
occur frequently, once every two weks or so.
I am frustrated, many appointments to the family doctor and hospital and now i am seeing
a pediatrician who seems very concerned.
However, i haven't gotten anywhere with anyone.
He has had stool samples taken and there are fine.
He was also taken off dairy for two weeks and no improvement either.
With the vomitting he was complaining of stomache pain as well.
Now even when the vomitting is absent he has stomache pain every day.
I have tried milk of magnesia and tums, thinking it was acid reflux, he says that it does not
help him.
It effects his activity levels at time and sleeps and just lay around.
He is an active boy normally-but his activity levels have dropped.
The last couple of weeks he has also been complaining about pain around the bottom of the rib
cage.
The pediatrician said that the vomitting is concerning and was worried that it could be neurological -
like a brain tumor ....
I don't think it is that at all.....
Anyone have any suggestions of things that should be looked into??

this is a far shot but I have seen vomiting as a possible manifestation of epilepsy.  I would say, get him a sleep test.

The best thing you could do right now is keep a daily log of everything...yes EVERYTHING he eats, drinks, and when he wakes/sleeps and when he vomits...etc.  Make sure you are very detailed.  This helped in diagnosing my son.  Although his was GERD, I think this might be the only way to give the doctors some starting point.

Does he have any new friends?  Anybody's house he goes over to that he didn't before?  Does he crave anything weird, like eat cardboard, ice, soap...etc.  I know that is a wierd one but sometimes when there is a hormonal/chemical imbalance there are ways the body tells you, sometimes by eating things like sand, dirt, soap...

Please keep us posted.  I hope they figure it out soon.  Just remember log, log, log!
