I've had the Nissen Fundoplication procedure with great results, so can't comment on the TIF, but know the procedure helps a lot. That said, it is not as invasive as a Nissen F., and as surgery isn't involved, I wouldn't think that any nerves were cut or affected. One of the dangers of the NF procedure is cutting the Vagel nerve.
It sure sounds like you have developed the plague of most of us men, a prostate swelling that isn't a result of your procedure. I'd encourage you to have a visit with your GP and ask to see a Urologist who will be able to diagnose you without very invasive procedures. You will undoubtedly hear the dreaded words, 'lean on the table', and hear the snap of latex gloves, but most of us over 40 experience that. Also, they have a device to detect how much urine you are retaining, an ultrasound device.
I'd definitely get this checked out. It can lead to not only a cancer issue but also a kidney issue. Hope that helps, keep us informed. Interesting post.
Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
I can not answer your question as I have not had this procedure but your issues is similar to one I have...I have a neurogenic bladder ....not sure if it is a side effect of this surgery or if a nerve may have been affected somehow or it is your prostrate...so do ask your Dr about this as it may be something due to swelling and will clear in time....let us know what you find out.
