upper digestive?

I have been experiencing a sensation in my stomach that runs up into my chest or esphagus that feels kinda like when a person startles you, you feel sort of like a jolt.  At times, I feel it in my stomach, and sometimes I feel like it starts at the stomach and runs up into my chest.  When this happens I feel like it takes my breath.  This morning as I was waking up, I felt this happening to me to where I needed to catch my breath. And felt like I had a heavy chest.  Sort of like I was blocked up with gas. Sometimes, not all the time, I feel chest pain.

I do suffer from bloating (all the time after eating, always have).  I feel at times when I eat, the food is sitting in my chest because I feel like there is a weight just sitting there.  This feeling particular feeling isn't always present.   Kinda feels like a "slingshot" feeling.  I really do not suffer with acid.

I am a 47 year old female.

I do not have heart problems or lung problems as I have been told my heart is strong as a horse, and lung capacity is normal.  Any suggestions on what this could be?    Several years ago, I did have a gallstone and some sludge.  They felt removing the gallbladder was not necessary because they didn't see anything wrong with the gallbladder.
They gave me something to disolve the stone.  Would you have any ideas, based on what I have told you.

I hope this all makes some sense.  I really dont know of any other way to describe it.  Thank you kindly!

Well as I said , my poor father was in and out of the ER several times over 6 months b4 they agreed it was his Gall Bladder.

They mentioned the sludge...and a yr after surgery they found the H. Pylori.

Keep after them.....it sounds out of control for a Hiatal hernia, but then again I may be lucky with mine...I have not been that extreme with the symptoms.

Do u still eat dairy products?....I know it can slow down the LES and that could be the area u r talking about.

I have had H Pylori.  This does not feel the same.  I often do wonder if there is something with gallbladder tho.  Also I notice that at times after I eat, I feel like there is phlegm in my chest to where it is bothersome and I try to cough it up, but cant. I wonder if this is all related to the problem.  It is felt right above the chest area, sort of where an 18 inch necklace with a pendant might sit around your neck.

Hi and welcome to the GERD  forum.

My father had the sludge and after months of ER visits, they finally took out his Gall Bladder...however, his condition did not improve.

It was almost a yr later we finally found out he had a bacteria called H.Pylori......

Please see ur GI dr and ask about the sludge and the possibility of haveing this bacteria.
