Stomach Pain/Acid After Gallbladder Surgery

I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. Now I'm having severe pain and burning in my stomach at night. So intense that I can't sleep. I've been eating bland foods (chicken broth, baked chicken, crackers) and it hasn't helped. I also burp constantly throughout the day. Is this normal? Will it go away eventually after my system adjusts?

I just had a hernia repair 4 days ago.  The incision is great and there is hardly any pain, but 2 days after surgery I am experiencing constant stomach pain, it doesn't go away.  It feels like hunger pangs.  I never experienced this before in my life, so I am pointing the finger at something with the surgery.  I don't know what, but either the anesthetic or something that I am not aware of with the surgery.  Does anyone have any answers?

Zooamy, the unfortunate thing is many individuals seem to develop symptoms of acid reflux after having gallbladder issues/surgery. Call your doc. You may need to try a GERD diet and perhaps some proton pump inhibitor medication. Some meds like carafate - which coats the stomach against acid and bile - might also be of help.

does the chicken broth have MSG in it?  I know it has salt and salt on an open wound is painful...crackers also.  You might have Hpylori...have the doctors check and ulcers....manuka honey is good for both...read my other comments on food on this forum.  For immediate relief, baking powder in a water with sooth and alkalize.  Get pH test strips and find out how acidic your body is...then research alkalizing foods.
