gall bladder surgery

Hi room last week I got laproscopic operation for my gall bladder removal.I was fine but suddenly after two days I got feverish for a single day.The very next day pus started oozing out from two ports of my operated area.But the culture of pus has no growth and there is no temperature till date but the pus is still coming and I am in great dilemma and anxious about the future.first I started with cefurixime axetil and levofloxacin as 5 days course and from today I started amoxyclav 1000 twice .Please suggest

Thanks doctor for the advice.Right now after changing the dressing the pus has converted into very minimal fluid and the heaviness near the port of surgery also decreases.There is no fever too.But still just below the naval port there is a bit of tightness and little pain after touching.

Hi, understand your anxiety. Before initiating the antibiotics the pus should be sent for culture and sensitivity, otherwise it may not show a growth. The antibiotics prescribed are covering both gram positive and negative bacteria. It could sometimes be due to anaerobic infections. They are usually treated with metronidazole. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
