I have not have the ERCP that you mentioned done. So far, I have not found anyone who knows much about it. I am on nifedipine SR 30 mg twice daily - 1 hour before meals. Sometimes it works very well and sometimes not. Today I took a baby aspirin and it actually seemed to help the pain in between,. Usually in the morning I feel good but then by afternoon I begin to hurt and it increases. I cannot tell that what triggers it other than stress -- which I have been under more than my share of the last few years -- cancer, loss of mom and then dad six months later, dtr's husband leaves the the same week dad dies --- oh yeah, bell's palsy in there ..... No suggestions from doc yet -- I will see my primary care doc this coming Monday. It was my oncologist that diagnosed the problem (after an emergency room visit because of severe unrelenting pain) -- the good part was that it is not pancreatic cancer. .... the oncologist ordered the HIDA scan -- and then gave me the diagnosis.
Any suggestions to suggest to my primary care doc? The last time I saw him after my diagnosis he told me that if they take the gall bladder out then I will not have as much pain --- obviously he had not read up on this diagnosis -- which I plan to update him when I see him.
Thanks for responding!!!!!!!!!

Kay, did they do and ERCP with manometry for diagnosis? Is the doc you're working with knowledgeable about SOD? What medications have you tried? What suggestions has the doc made?
