Roux en Y hepatic jejunostomy

Would like to contact someone else who had my situtation:  Had gall bladder removed, doctor made a mistake by severing my main bile duct completely from liver.  Became septic and required a long hospital stay.  I was corrected with an operation called a  Roux en y hepatic jejunostomy - where a piece of my intestine is used in place of my bile duct for bile distribution directly to my stomach.  I would like to talk to someone who had this type of surgery to see what there after effects are and if they have any types of problems with this type of surgery.

This discussion is related to Do any of you know??? and response to Baseballmom.

I did in 2006, my bile duct was totally severed, had a Roux-en-Y in 2007 :(  Its 5+ years later and I'm not sure why I never looked for others.. But I would love to compare the issue, not that the issues are fun! but that I'm not alone! I thank God everyday that I'm still here, or not living with drain bags still. However I do deal with issues, such as severe gas pains and pains that travel to my mid back, arms and chest.

I'm pretty positive and don't let much get me down, but I'm just not myself, I feel like I aged 10 years right after, and gained weight after being allowed to eat. I now have a thyrod issue, which I've been told is not related... I'm not sure.

How are you and others dealing with this? I would love to connect.. thanks Kim
