8 yr old with severe stomach pain and now faitgue

My 8 yr old daughter has been suffering from severe stomach pain and bolating for the last 6-8 months. The initial stomach x-ray 5 months ago showed large amounts of bowel. Sine then were doing 2 capfuls of Miralax, Fibersmart, and dulcolax daily. Her stools have been normal for about 3 months. My daugher has had a upper GI, lower GI, and ultrasound which all came back normal. My daughter has missed several days of school and stays up most nights crying due to the pain. Now, she wont eat and sleeps all day. We have been to 4 doctors including 2 family doc's, 1 natural path, and 1 GI doc at our local children's hospital. We have taken gluten, processed foods, and dairy from her diet. I am out of ideas? anyone experience anything similar?

I think your daughter is on too much medication....the Miralax alone should be all she needs.  Dulcolax alone can cause cramping, pain and even nausea.  The fiber supplement may be too much for her, fiber can aid in moving the bowels but it can also hinder it. Talk to her doctor about using just the Miralax, I think she'll improve.

Please please please ask for a test to check for Dietary Fructose Intolerance.  My daughter was 10 when she was diagnosed.  She is perfectly fine now.  It is a simple breath test.  as long as we avoid foods with High Fructose Corn Syrup, she has none of the problems anymore.

If the doctor won't test her try elimination.  remove any foods with Fructose or Corn suger added. The results will be dramatic if that is what it is.

Poor baby! I hope she finds relief soon.  Did the natural path doctor do a food allergy test? From that test, I found out that I had allergies to dairy and eggs and by eliminating them, it took away all my symptoms. However, it took a couple weeks of ellimating before I saw results. Also to ease stomach discomfort, I have found that aloe vera juice taken at night and first thing in the morning really eases my stomach. It needs to be 100% aloe vera with no added sugars. It doesn't taste great but there are some brands that take away the bitter taste.

Good luck in finding something to ease her tummy.
