About NON-ALCOHOLIC Fatty Liver. " NASH "

hello. my name is Edsel and I'm a Registered Nurse from the Philippines. I had a chest x-ray last December 16,2007 at the radiologist suggested that I should have ultrasound since my right diaphragm was elevated. Right then and there, I suspected that maybe it has something to do with my liver.

During the ultrasound session, the sonologist told me that I have a fatty liver. She suggested that I should have a liver profile . . . and I did.

My SGPT is elevated beyond normal level. It's 56.4 u/L, my SGOT is almost slightly elevated, 33.7 u/L.

My Bilirubin total is 0.79 mg/dl, indirect is 0.54 mg/dl , and direct is 0.54 mg/dl.

I don't smoke and drink any kind of beer or alcohol. I am also NON-REACTIVE in Hepatitis B or any form of hepatitis. I searched the internet and read about how obese persons are at risk for fatty liver or " NASH ".

My questions are:

1 ) what are the possible complications of non-alcoholic fatty liver?
2 ) what medications should I use?
3 ) can I make my SGPT and SGOT levels go back within normal range?
4 ) is it safe to use glutathione even if I have fatty liver? My glutathione is accepted by the Bureau of Food and Drugs here in the Philippines.
5 ) is there a cure for fatty liver? what's the prognosis?
6 ) what food can and can't eat?
7 ) will my lifespan become shorter? heheheeh!
8 ) is this a common liver condition?

Thank you very much! I hope to get a reply from you soon.

Take care and God Bless!

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

The majority of people with fatty liver, do NOT, I repeat, NOT have NASH.

Fatty liver without NASH won't cause harm itself, but may indicate insulin resistance or iron overload, which can cause harm. Fatty liver is common.

NASH is hepatitis, and requires aggressive treatment to stop and heal the liver damage. NASH is uncommon.
