Acalculous Cholesystitis? Hida 18%

Gallbladder question...Have had severe pain in right shoulder blade (between shoulder blades butt more to right) that also goes into my chest since April. Mild gnawing pain under right ribcage with occasional sharper pain but manageable. Went to ER in May thinking heart attack, they ruled out heart attack and pulmonary embolism. Went to Chiropractor who said I had a rib tip out in my back. Months of Chiro visits, very little relief. He suggested I have GB checked. Ultrasound normal but Hida 18%. My question is... even though my chiro can feel a rib tip out and I can feel the pain when he presses on it, can this really be caused by my gallbladder? I'm seeing surgeon next week but worried this may not be it, what else can it be? Someone said it was be ACALCULOUS CHOLECYSTITIS... so just because they saw no stones,  does that mean I have Acalculous Cholesystitis? That sounds so much more serious than just a bad gallbladder. I panicked when I read about Acalculous Cholesystitis because it said high mortality. it seems very serious. If this is what it could be, why does my doctor not seem concerned but rather like just a routine gallbladder problem?

Thank you, I will try the peppermint tea. I will try anything at this point. Were you able to go back to your regular diet after having the cholysysectomy? I love to eat and am so worried I won't ever be able to enjoy the foods I love again! All I know is I'm starving in pain and very cranky lol.

I had a cholysysectomy about 14 months ago and went to an hebalist recently and she said I should've drank peppeermint tea.  I sad it sounded hokey but my friend was having gallbladder problems and he tried it and he's feeling better already....but who knows just another option.  I also had extreme pains before I got mine out and it seemed that when i walked it helped.

I am on Premarin due to total hysterectomy. I cut out all fats, dairy of any kind, sugar etc... no help. Now on a clear liquid but am going to try a fruit smoothie or something because I am starving! Thanks again for your advice.

Are you on any form of hormones? Are you following a low fat diet - in some cases it can help those with GB issues, although with an inflammatory pattern I'm not sure it would be useful, but it might be worth a try.

Thank you so much for your response. You are so right about reading the stats lol. I had myself so panicked last night that I couldn't sleep! They did not detect anything in the gallbladder at all during ultrasound, just the low Hida scan ejection fraction. I feel generally ill most of the time so I really do just want it out! The only other thing my doc has noticed is that my temp tends to be on the low side, 96.5. Not sure why that is but she did not seem too worried about it.

It means you're experiencing some form of inflammatory pattern in the gallbladder and that the inflammation is not due to the presence of stones. But you may want to double-check to see if any 'sludge' was detected. Forget about reading the statistics. If you read the statistics about every condition you'd lock yourself in your house and never come out again - same with reading about the side-effects of the drugs that are prescribed.
