Bacteria Overgrowth

I was diagnosed in September 2008 with a bacteria overgrowth in my stomach.  I took a breath test and it turned out to be positive.  My Doctor gave me 7 days of antibotics.  My symptoms are fullness and gasy with a feeling of a lump in my throat along with tightmess in my chest and my right arm is now going numb sometimes. I'm not sure what kind  of doctor I should see now.  It's been 2 months and no reprieve!

Here's echoing what ayri said: if your doc just gave you a 7 day antibiotic treatment then it's time you find a new doctor. That's almost negligence on their part!

If there's any sort of bacterial overgrowth (H. Pylori being the most common), you should have recieved at least 2 antibiotics, in addition to antacids, and probably something like peptobismol. An upper endoscopy should also have been recommended in order to see whether there are any ulcers, which if left untreated, in cases of H. Pylori can lead to cancer in 3% of patients,

Recommendation: 1) Find a new doctor (I'll presume this is your primary), and 2) go to a gastroenterologist and request an upper endoscopy.

Good luck.

hi, did you have an endoscopy? did your doctor prescribe any ant-acid medication like nexium or parriet or somac to go with the anti-biotics? if not then change doctors, because if the breathe test came back positive like you say then he or she should have followed it up with what i asked you. go back and ask for the follow up. cheers.
