Biliary Web

by MissDiva, Mar 05, 2009 03:49PM
Posted yesterday about an ERCP that I just had.  The reason for the procedure was a 16mm dilation in the common bile duct.  Have just been informed that this blockage is a result of a 'web' growth in the CBD. It was cleaned during ERCP but prone to come back so we're going to monitor the situation before deciding on surgery. Does anybody know what a biliary web is?  Not much info out on the web... for my web.

Thanks in advance.

You can find information about extrahepatic biliary webs in textbooks. They're thought to be congenital in nature and fairly rare, and according to the literature they're not thought to be 'proliferative.' In order to find out more about the subject, you'll have to use the databases found in a good university research library. You're not going to find out a lot about this on the web.
