Bloating

I am a 39 year old woman, reasonable good health, eat healthy, exercise regularly. I have had stomach gasses for almost all my life, when in my teens a doctor told me that I needed to learn to breath better.
I don't eat fast food, fry foods and avoid red meats because they are hard to digest, I have also noticed that lactose is not my best fried. But the gasses, bloating feeling does not goes away, sometimes it wakes me up in the middle of the night and make it very hard to go back to sleep.
I have try Beano, Prilosec and different digestive supplements from the naturist stores; they seem to give some temporary relief (from few days to couple of months), but the problem is never gone, and eventually comes back. In the worst times my stomach looks extended and is very hard when I touch it.
I have also try colon cleanse kits, but they products clean bad and good thing out of my system leaving even more anemic that I normally am.
I would really appreciate any help,
Thank you.
Bea.

Hmmm, sounds exactly like my post from a few days ago!  I'm new on this forum and have basically the exact same symptoms as you (if I knew how to link it I would).  Like you, I am young, watch what I eat, exercise, get plenty of sleep, I'm not stressed, etc... ie try to do everything right.  But to no avail.  I look pregnant most of the time and it's really quite embarassing.  Not to mention how challenging it is to be at work and have mega cramps and need to run to the bathroom all the time to pass some gas!
Anyways, have you had some tests done such as a colonoscopy, gastroscopy, xray of your small intestine, etc?  If all those come out normal, like they have for me, well then it seems there could still be: dairy intolerance, malabsorption of something (eg fructose malabsorption), celiac's disease, etc, all of which I believe can be tested for (I've yet to do that but will very shortly!!!).  Oh, and someone also mentioned to me that they had similar symptoms and it was due to a thyroid problem.  So maybe you'll want to have that checked too.  Now this is just what I've learned from the last fews days of researching this site, and it's only what I found that was relevant for me, so there may be other things relevant for you.

Hi Bea,

My Dr. diagnosed me with Irritable Bowl Syndrom when those particular symptoms first appeared a few years ago.

If you read my Question re Constipation, I mentioned that I'd taken acidophilus which as you probably are aware is found in yogurt.

I have noticed that this enables the gas to pass.  Hopefully this may be of help.

You could ask your doctor if you may have IBS cause I have some similar symptoms and that is one of the things that is wrong with me that may cause bloating. But one of my questions would be do you have diarrhea or constipation?
