Colon cancer pain vs gas pains

Im 21 yrs old. For about a day and a half now I have been feeling alot of movement in my stomach alot with growling type noises. I also feel kind of a pressure type feeling in the middle of my stomach. I thought it had something to do with food i ate. Yesterday i ate a spicy chicken sandwhich and a bunch of cookies. So I could have that to blame. But also since about late August I have been having a weird smell everytime in my stool. The smell is only in the toilet itself not on the toilet paper (yes i did take a quick sniff). The smell on the paper is typical, normal, disgusting poop smell. At first I thought, even tho i didnt see any blood in my poop or on the paper that there could be invisible blood and that could be the cause for the smell. Then i found out even if there were tons of blood visible it wouldnt change the smell of the poop. Another suggestion that was givin to me was maybe its just the toilet water?? Either way i odered a FOB test at home thing just to be on the safe side even tho i was just recently at the DR's and he had blood test done before the visit for basic reasons and he didnt say anything was out of the ordinary. IM A BIT OF A HYPOCHRODIAC if it wasnt noticeable. Every little thing i hop on the interenet and check symptoms. Im hoping someone can put my mind at ease, it would really help!!

Hi! Sorry i took so long with this response. Well as i posted earlier on i had ordered an FOB at home test (EZ DETECT) and thankfully each stool test (theres 3 to be performed each time a stool is made) came back negative! So that was really my only concern! Only since reading symptoms i guess i thought i had symptoms once u get it into your mind! IM A REAL HYPOCHONDRIAC!! I usually do get gas pains but only after i eat something that doesnt settle right with my stomach but then it goes away. And all my bowel movements are normal and no visible blood. So i guess it was just anxiety and the fear of THINKING something is wrong without KNOWING! thnk u for all your advice. HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Anxiety can definitely add to problems.  If you are feeling anxious I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist to get evaluated to possibly start on some medication.  If a person were to get colon cancer in their 20's they wouldn't necessarily have problems leading up to it to their whole life.  However it would most likely start as blood in the stool and then later lead to stomach pain.  However even if you get blood in the stool and then stomach pain it is much more likely something else besides colon cancer.  There are intermediate grounds between gas pains and colon cancer like chrons disease, ulcerative colitis, IBD, etc.

OK thnk u once agen. I actually already feel better so im guessing maybe it was anxiety that was making me sick?? Maybe i need medication for that? But for my own knowledge I was wondering, because sometimes it is heard of someone in there 20's having colon cancer, if a person was to have it at my age range would the person had to have problems leading up to it all there life? Or does it just come out of nowhere? I only ask this because im adopted and so i dont know of any medical family history. But all my life i have probably only been sick like to the point where i actually threw up maybe 7 times in my whole 21 yrs. And other then that maybe sick with the flu once a year if that. Sorry for all the questions, i know it would be easy to ask a doctor but i have already worried my parents over 3 different things in the last yr which turned out all to be nothing. So i dont wanna keep worrying them either and rushing to doctors for nothing.

Gas pains are relieved by passing gas and there is usually a sound or a feeling of movement along with it.  Colon cancer stomach pains are usually in the later stages of colon cancer.  At your age with your symptoms colon cancer shouldn't even be considered as a possibility.

Hi! And thank u so much for responding! I cant believe that after posting this, my main question which i forgot to put was what is the difference in typical gas pains and colon cancer stomach pains? That was basically the whole point in me writing this lol, but since this morning when i posted the question the "gas pains" have gone away almost completely. And also thnk u for responding about the smell too..im not so much worried about it anymore.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I am basically 100% sure that you do not have colon cancer.  It is probably gas pains which can be caused by spicy foods and fatty foods.  I wouldn't worry at all about the smell.
