I just wanted to caution you about taking Reglan. It works wonderfully for most patients from what I hear, but if you have ever had trouble with anxiety or depression, do not take it! I had severe anxiety from the ages of 18-20, but had not had any symptoms for over 6 years until I was put on reglan. There's a lot of information floating around about reglan and from the sounds of things you should be very cautious about taking it for any extended period of time. Just a word of caution. I do hope you feel better soon.
ooo throwing up bile? That might be reflux related then or stomach valve (not that i'm a doctor) but that is not normal..it's a good idea to get a gastric emptying test.
ERCP is where they test your pancrease by going in endoscopically and place a stent in your pancrease...inject die and watch it come out..also test the pressure and vavle called the *I think* oddi valve at the entrance of the doudeum. It's invasive..risky..no doubt expensive *sigh* and I probably need it :(
You could try "reglan" that's supposed to be an anti-nausea and also makes your stomach contract and move food. You could ask your doctor about trying that, or prilosec/tums or nexium or anything else to protect your stomach if you have relflux or bile. Or possibly an anti-spasmodic to help calm your smooth muscles down. But above all i'd follow what your GI wants of course.. but bile is super hard on the tummy I hear :S Hope you get better!
What is an ERCP? I have tried promethazine and it does not work, mints, ginger, everything. Today I have begin to throw up what appears to bile and I have a burning feeling in my upper chest. I am going for a gastic emptying test on Wednesday but can anyone recommend something else? I have had a ton of blood work done as well and everything comes out normal.
yeah i'm in the same boat, going to get an ERCP..you gotten yours yet madison? I'm scared to death of the procedure but I have no doubt I need it done...dealing with 24/7 nausea and abominal pain here.
Smetcher: I've been using promethazine nausea pills or peppermint mints ...that seems to calm it down. Sometimes anti-spasmotics (which calm smooth muscles) seem to help to..also avoiding caffine/spicy/fatty oily foods is also a good idea.. just avoid stress. Also a blood test checking for your liver/pancrease enzyme levels would be a good idea or maybe MRCP.
I've had the same problem, only I'm now 6 weeks post op. My surgeon finally sent me to a biliary specialist, and they diagnosed me with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction.. I go back next week to discuss my options with that, so I don't really have any additional info to give you now. But I'd def have them check you out for that! Hope everything gets better! Good luck!
