Does post viral gastroparesis go away.

I am a 30 year old healty female that was just diag with Post Viral Gastroparesis. I am taking Domperidome 3x per day. My doc doesnt seem to have alot of experience with gastroparesis and all I can find on the internet is doom and gloom cases. What is the general recovery time for this condition? Is this something I need to adjust my entire life around...job, childcare...I am terrified to leave home for fear of getting sick. The Domperidome seems to be working...will it continue to work...if so, how long? While in the hospital I was also given a gallbladder test that showed my gallbladder working at 17%. I went ahead and had my gallbladder removed. I cant tell a bit of difference with or without my gallbladder. Looking for some sort of hope.

Thanks so much

I haven't been formally diagnosed with PV gastroparesis, but all the symptoms match (except vomiting, thankfully) I just started a low-fibre and low-fat diet today to see if it helps my symptoms, but I haven't really eaten apart from an egg.I've had this for about 3 months and as a student in school, it's hard to get through the day. And exams are starting next week. My mother got this condition after food poisoning and it did clear up, but sometimes she still gets the symptoms for a few days. She took no medicine for it, it that's because she had no idea what it was at the time. And I just want to ask, has it cleared up for you yet? It's been a while since you posted this.

I am a 30yr old female, January 2011 i had the Norwalk Virus for 9 days and things seemed to get better for a few days but then i started with this burning full feeling under my breast bone along with constipation, nausea and lack of appetite. It has now been 9weeks since the Norwalk Virus illness and i have lost 20lbs and i am struggling to eat anything at this point. I went to the GI doctor Tuesday and he told me i have Post Viral Gastroperisis, before seeing him i had a endoscopy and a CT of my abdomen and everything looked fine. Now i have to go for another test next week which requires me to eat eggs and lie down under a machine to see how long it takes for my stomach to digest food. I am really scared and want this to go away. I have nausea all day/everyday and feel full all day long. I have been taking Priolsec which has helped with the burning feeling. I was taking Zofran for nausea but it did not seem to make a difference. Does anyone know if this will go away? I have also been reading things on the internet and now i feel terrified...which has also given me such anxiety and panic attacks. I guess i am just looking for someone to tell me it will be ok. Thank you in advance for any comments

I too was just diagnosed with gastroparesis post viral my doctor said that it should clear up. I know I was diagnosed 20 years ago with an emptying study after getting a really bad stomach bug, and they said I had it then.  I was put on cisapride back then and it cleared up about a year later. I now have it again from another bad stomach virus. I am on domperidone now to and so far it is working I have an appetite but I can only tolerate carbs, I have had so much nausea but no vomiting ( thank god) emetophobia on top of having this dreaded thing. what does your doctor say I would be curious,  I have read all these threads and it is scaring me senceless.

Hi, I'm 16 and my problems are almost identical to yours. I was diagnosed with GP post viral about a month ago and I'm taking domperidone twice a day. It doesn't seem to be working yet though. How long did it take until the tablets started helping you? I feel very nauseous all the time too but am never sick. I also have a phobia of being sick!! I get so depressed because of how I feel and I just want some reassurance that it will go away because I can't live with it my whole life! It stops me from doing all the things I want to do.
