I talked to the pharmacist and he said the burning is not uncommon and occurs mostly in the first days. The past few doses have only caused burning for about five minutes and it has given me some relief.
I first used carafate about 30yrs ago sort of before all of the newer drugs came on the scene, then it was Tagamet Zantac Pepcid and all down the line one good thing about carafate is it is not systemic with mostly minor side effects.
I have took it before and it didnt help it did cause burning because I have to much acid in my stomach. It didnt mix wellwith my stomach acids. So I would say yes it is possible depending what is wrong with your stomach.
Usually it's prescribed to treat a burning sensation in the stomach.
