Egg Burps

Egg Burps

I noticed that most of the people that have this "egg burp" thing have one thing in common this started in High School?  This happened to me and it started in High School also why is that???  I only get it once in a while.  Haven't had it in a long time.  Have it today!  Why High School, I live in California, I don't know anyone else with this or maybe I just never brought it up since the egg smell is quite potent and I know that once I get the "egg burps" that yes I will be throwing up, or I have actually slept near the toilet cause I was so nauseated. Just to say I am 33 now and still have it.  How can I get rid of this taste/smell? coming from my body?

I have had the same problems, About a year and a half ago I was having a episode and I would end up sleeping next to the toilet also. I am 35 and the past month I have been in surgery to remove my appendix, also I  have had abscesses removed from my gut, and have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease. It is important to keep following up with a competent Dr.

I suffered from the exact same symptoms weekly (and really thought I was alone in this!) since I was a small child. Rotten Egg Burps (the WORST part) followed by nausea, severe cramps, vomiting, diarrea (diarrhea), the works. Only after throwing up everything I'd ever eaten in my entire life would it go away eventually. Doctors never knew what was wrong and there's still nothing much online about the cause of this illness. After logging what I ate for quite a while, we figured out that the common denominator was RED DYE #40! I am an adult now who will not eat anything anywhere that even has the possibility of having the dye unless I can read ingredients (which is a TON of stuff, people! ...even some "white" things like coffee creamer packets and such...take a look at things and you'll be amazed) and I hardly, if ever, get this illness anymore. (knock on wood!) I go YEARS without being sick all because I simply avoid Red Dye #40. Just a suggestion because it's worked for me! Hope this helps some of you out there...

My name is Brian, I'm 30 years old and have suffered from the "Sulphur Burp" syndrome.  It is awful.  I've suffered with the symptoms for over 15 years.  My symptoms have been: stomach cramps like someone was stabbing my insides, rotten egg smelling burps that tend to linger in the air forever and have even made other people puke (they believe I'm farting), nausea, vomit, explosive diarreah (diarrhea), sharp back pain specially in the lower back, gas that felt like little mice running around inside my stomach, to mention the most memorable.  I've tried everything over the counter you can imagine, I even tried cutting certain foods from my diet like eggs and onions and chili or spices.  Nothing helped.  Fasting helped a little, but just created other problems for me.  It has gotten so bad I end up sleeping in my living room sitting down on the couch because I can't lay down due to the uneasy feeling caused.  My burps sound like a roaring dragon sometimes.  My wife thought I was posessed.  I felt pregnant.  It's really horrible and I just want to let you know you are not alone.

I think I might be suffering from giardiasis.  Whenever I muster up the courage to see a doctor about it, all my symptoms vanish into thin air.  Besides I was afraid that I might be diagnosed with stomach cancer or something.  Well, I'm glad I ran into this site because I know I'm not alone, and neither are you.  Hang in there partner, and talk to your medical consultant as soon as possible.  Peace!

OMG>. I am so relieved to see your reply because I used to think it was soda... seemed to happen whenever I drank soda.. mostly from bottles, not so much from the fountain or cans.. then it started even w/canned soda and fountain soda. Then icecream.. but not all icecream so I figured it wasn't lactose intolerance. I could not for the life of me figure out what was causing this. I've had the problem for the past 6 years off and on.. but more and more lately. I do have Crohn's disease, but my docs said it had nothing to do with that. Also it's not the acid reflux that causes it.. altough when I get the rotten egg burps I notice that my reflux also gets worse. Just as I think I know what is causing it, I realize I'm wrong. So, I am going to start trying to avoid red dye #40 and see if that helps. BTW.. my husband and son also suffer from the rotten egg burps .. my son is 18 and it just started over the past year and my husband's problems with it started about 2 years ago.Thank you for your information and ideas.. I'm going to see if it helps cutting out the dye as much as possible. Seriously..THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!
