Gallbladder Surgery Tomorrow

Hi everyone, i am having my gallbladder out tomorrow, im a little nervous but just trying to do things in the house to keep my mind off it. I do have a question for those of you who have had it done before.. My dr suggested i take MOM today(about 3 teaspoons) to clean out my system i guess and also he said to keep the food light today, liquids and such.. i have talked to others in my family who have not had to do this.. Did anyone else? I hate to eat just liguids today and then not be able to eat again until tomorrow night.. Uhggggg
I will be starving already because surgery is not until 145 pm...Hahaha
Also how was everyone's pain afterwards? Im hoping to be able to make it up my stairs to my bed im not liking the idea of sleeping on the couch like i did with my appendics..How long did it take before you were home? Im hoping to be home by 5? Think thats possible?

Hi everyone, I had my gallbladder surgery last Wen at 2pm and was home around 830pm. Everything went fine..Im still kinda uncomfortable and sore but getting better everyday.Belly button incision hurts the most out of all of them. Kinda been having a burning feeling today but nothing compared to the day after surgery....
My gallbladder was fuctioning at 39% on the hida  scan but after the surgery the Dr told my hubby i had gallstones and my gallbladder was all sludge...
SO im back to being able to drink choc milk and eat eggs without my side hurting and im very happy about that...
now if i could just go to the bathroom right we would be in great shape :)

well, i was in for surgery at 3 and out by 730. I also had a sandwich from charlies as soon as i got out lol I didnt have too much pain, i was sleeping all the time b/c the percocet does that to me. after day 4 i think, i was off the pain pills, though i could have been off them sooner. the best information i recieved was from jaybay, he told me to be careful what i eat because my bowels will "go on strike" oh boy did they. Pain is gone now. Its been 3 weeks. Still cant eat huge portions, but i dont need to either lol. I was extremely worried, but you will be fine! I wish you the best. Get your fav. food afterwards, you may be too tired to remember it, but you will be happy while you are eating lol. Good Luck!

Oops!  So sorry, for some reason I added the word 'day' in there.

I stayed till the next morning. but that was only because I have a low-calcium issue.  I agree with above and had the same expericence afterward.

Good luck and please know that your brain won't short-out the way mine apparently did!

No maybe not home by 5 but it should be that night. I had the surgery and stayed until the next day because my GB was in bad shape. All worked out well and the pain wasn't unbearable. The thing you have to watch is that everyone seems to have diferent diet restrictions post surgically, that is to say, Some people have more problems with fatty foods than others. I was sure I would be one of them but it has really worked out well for me. I had a few minor problems the first week or so but since then I've been fine. all the best

Your dr knows your med situation better than anyone.  I would follow the drs instructions.

My surgery was the same time as yours.  Afterward, I was more starving then in pain - as meds took care of that.  They started me first on liquid-type foods.  The only thing resembling real food was sherbert, which I don't even care for but scarfed down.

I had the lap type surgery 4 weeks ago.  If you're anticipating staying in the hosp at least 5 days you're probably having the other kind of surgery.  You mention having had previous ab surgery and that is probably why.  Hope you get feedback on that experience here, as it is a little different.  But from everything I had read and heard about, it is also a manageable recovery.

Good luck to you.
