Gassy & Mucusy

I have been dealing with rumbling tummy and gas since my teens and I am now 42. I have experienced within the last couple of years being gassy all day long. it does not matter what I eat or if I even eat. I wake up that way and go to bed that way (bloated). My stool has become looser, stringier and has mucus in it (but not bloody). I exercise pretty regularly and do not eat fried foods and lots of fish & veggies. I do not drink carbonated beverages either. You can hear my stomach all day long and I am having a problem with making it to the bathroom on time. A lot of the time when I go to the bathroom it is mostly gas & mucus. It seems to be worse as I sit all day at my desk at work. I have not experienced the weight loss that I see as a symptom of most digestive types of disorders. Any ideas?

It sounds like a food allergy/intolerance.  However, there are other, rarer causes.  Don't try stopping gluten because you need to eat it to get tested for Celiac disease, but I would suggest you try eliminating dairy for a week.
