Gastro problems 2 yeras after gall bladder and ovary removal

Hello
I have spent hours looking through other post's and seeing as nothing quite matches my own concerns, I thought I would attempt a post myself.  I am 35, non smoking mother of 3.  I had my gall bladder removed 2 years ago.  I had been ill with attacks for a year and ultra sound showed a very large stone.  The same scan also displayed a large dermoid cyst on my right ovary which was removed 6 weeks after gall bladder surgery.  I have been plodding along quite happily until a month ago.  I started to sick up bile and had the most awful pain right between my breast bone and continuing through my ribacge and down to my stocmach.  It almost felt like a gall bladder attack which scared me as I have no gall bladder.  I went to my doctor who said I have bile reflux and gastritis (she examnied me and listened to my stomach).  She prescibed gavison and lansoprazole which has helped.  However, my stomach is bloated and sore one day and then back to normal the next.  I feel as though something is trying to burst through my ribacage and I have a faint stinging pain behind my belly button.  I am driving my husband insane with thinking I have every illness known to man and I really just want some advice if anyone could kindly offer some please?  Also, why have I been able to eat whatever I wanted for the last 2 years after my gall bladder was removed but now suddenly, I struggle with any fat/dairy/spice/tomatoes?  I was diagnosed with colitis 18 years ago but have never taken mediaction for it as the symptoms seemed to dissappear over the years.  Sorry to have gone on, but I am worried and sore.  Thank you in advance for any help offered. Karen x

I'm so sorry to hear that you are suffering and afraid.

My situation is similar (except for the cyst).  I had my gallbladder removed in May of 2008.  The pain and nausea continued.  I had an attack in June of 2008 and was hospitalized for eight days.  They kept me on pain killers and antibiotics until my liver enzymes straightened out then they cut me loose.  In August of 2008, I had a sphincterotomy which was supposed to help.  It didn't.  I now have excellent pain and nausea relief from medication but I'm still looking for answers.

Here are a couple of things that I've found helpful.

Research!  Read old posts in this forum.  There is a fantastic research resource that I've found very helpful called "The First Principles of Gastroenterology": http***gastroresource.com/GITextbook/en/Default.htm.

Log!  Keep a journal.  It helps identify patterns in your symptoms, foods, medications and pain level.  You're welcome to read mine but I write a lot (can you tell?).  :)  http***www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/12546?personal_page_id=8912

Reach Out!  You are not alone!  Try to stay positive.

I belong to a Yahoo! group called Sphincterofoddi_pancreatitis which deals with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction, Pancreatitis and Undiagnosed Symptoms, among other things.  Please write Michele at  Sphincterofoddi_pancreatitis***@**** and ask to join.  There is no charge.  Michele is a Registered Nurse and has suffered for many years.  In spite of that, she is the owner and moderator of this webgroup.  She is a phenomenal person; kind, understanding and incredibly smart.  Since you are undiagnosed, I'm sure you would be welcome.  The members of this forum are dealing with or have dealt with similar situations and can provide good practical advice.  Please feel free to mention my name, Sam (not short for anything), in your email.  There is some great practical information there as well.

When you do find answers, please post to let everyone know what you found and how you got rid of your symptoms.  It gives people on this site hope to hear success stories.

All the best,

Sam
