How to treat hiatus hernia

My hiatus hernia symptoms are; burning middle chest pain and burping - what foods should I avoid and are the over the counter heartburn mixtures useful?

try some SLIPPRY ELM POWDER get it from a health store. Mix a teaspoon in some water till it smoothes out like a runny paste and gulp it down. Doesn't taste real good but you get used to it. When you have a bad flareup take it before each meal for a couple of days. Works for me and it's not a drug so can't do any harm.

There are a number of foods that cause increased acid production that could cause discomfort in someone with a hiatal hernia. You can find a list at gicare.com under the GERD diet category. There are also a number of OTC acid suppression meds available that can be tried. The histamine blockers like zantac are once 'class' of drugs. The others fall into the proton pump inhibitor category. You may want to talk to your doctor or Pharmacist to discuss the differences and the usage.
