IBS

Around Christmas(3 months ago) I started becomming very constipated.  I tried everthing you could imagine but nothing gave me relief. Even my doctor wasnt much help. I was reffered to the GI doctor. In the meantime. My constipation cleared up(for the most part) but now I have terrible stomach pains.Cramps, bloating, nasuea, you name it, Ihave it. It even makes me sick to have a bowel movement. Everything I eat upsets my stomach and sometimes just a nudge will really set it off. It comes and goes and also comes along with terrible terrible burning. I saw the specialist and all he did was ask me a few questions and give me zelnorm and nexium.Neither have helped. I am now taking aciphex and a probiotic. I cant just be told I have IBS and just live with it. IBS is caused from something! I have tried keeping a food journal but I can make any connections. I dont feel like the doctor checked me out at all and I am curious to see if anyone feels the same way or has simialar symptoms but has been diagnosed with something other then IBS. Im also interested in hearing how people have learned to deal with IBS or any "natural ways' that have helped people, such as cleansing.

I had my gall bladder taken out in Sept 2008.  I have always had gastro issues...nervous stomach, spastic colon, constipation, diahrea...but after the gallbladder came out it literally became about 10 times worse.  I have even had public accidents. I have no control over my bowels now.  I have gone to 2 different gastro specialist...had the upper and lower gi done.  had blood work and stool samples done...NOTHING.  I am literally at my wits end.

Now I can not leave my house without doping myself up on Immodium AD...  Not only is the bowel movement so painful that it is almost unbareable....but now the anxiety and stress of what is happening is making me almost house bound.  someone please help...any advise?
thanks

Try adding acidophilus (sp?) and papaya enzymes to your diet.
Don't know if it will help, but they have provided me with some relief when the pain is at it's worst. If I remember to take them daily it helps more.

I have just started reading a book called Eating for IBS-its works! Basically you can eat-Sourdough bread, plain potatoes, cooked veggies, no fat no meat no dairy, you can have rice, bannana, oatmeal, applesauce. Try those things for a few days and see if it helps-if it does get the book-there are some recipies in there. Let me know if it helps

I was recently diagosed with IBS. It began with what I thought was food poisoning in December. When I was sick for 4 days with stomach pain and diahreaha. I could not eat just take fluids. I began feeling better then the diahreaha began  daily in the morning and stomach pain high up under my rib cage moving from the right ot the left. When I went to the GI doctor he said it was IBS before he even took a blood test. All my bloods came back normal. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy both normal. I ended up in the ER becasue the pain was getting worse. I was convinced I had pancreatitis or gallbladder issues. They took bloods, xrays and CT scan. All normal except for distention of the bowel which was noted as mild Illius?! Pancreas and Gallbadder were normal. Still the same I was told it was IBS. I have pain all day from 10 am onwards. I started taking Prilosec and the diahreaha stopped abt 3 weeks ago but the upper pain which is a burning has not. The Dr said nothing he could do if it got worse to come back otherwise he would see me in 6 months. I have tried yogurt, pro biotics, aloe vera juice, Peptp Bismol, Nulev with no change. I have tracjked my foods and no matter what I eat or do not eat it doesn't change. When I drink wine the pain subsides. Has anyone had the same problem? I still feel there is something really wrong. The pain subsides when I lay flat and seems to flare when I am sitting at my computer or driving. Has anyone had the same symptoms with IBS or had the same symptoms and been diagnosed with something else? It has now been four months
