thanks for your responses.
no i haven't been formally diagnosed, but i was treating it with natural supplements anyway (drinking aloe juice 3 times a day & astragalus (immune-boosting chinese herb that also helps heal ulcers), and a supplement that provides "friendly bacteria" although i'm not sure if that has anything to do w/ulcers or not, i was just taking it because i recently got off antibiotics.) anyway all of my symptoms of ulcers went away a while ago so i'm assuming if i had one, it's gone. but i almost never take ibuprofen or any sort of aspriin or anything - it's only that one time a month lol and i usually only take it once or twice so hopefully that's not too damaging incase i do have an ulcer.
The active ingredient, ibuprofen, is significantly lower in the childrens chewables than it is in "standard" ibuprofen tablets; the inactive ingredients will not cause any adverse effects. Consuming a childrens chewable is the EQUIVALENT to taking 1/2 a 200 mg ibuprofen pill.
The reason the childrens chewables are not recommended for adult use is that there are many medicial conditions that exist in adults, and not in children, in which it could be DANGEROUS to take ibuprofen, e.g. peptic ulcers, high blood pressure, heart failure, serious kidney or liver disease. In other words, rather than list a host of "dont take this medicine if you have A, B, C......." on the childrens chewables, it is more convinenent to simply state that it is intended for children only as children rarely suffer from the above ailments.
If you suspect you have an ulcer, you should NOT be taking ibuprofen. You will also need to avoid other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and aspirin as these can make the ulcer bleed and worsen the condition. Have you been formally diagnosed w/ an ulcer? Talk to you doctor about pain medications that are suitable.
