Extreme pain on right side

Hello all, I'm actually asking for my husband. He has been having some sever pain in his right side for a few months now. He went to a dr. about a month ago and the dr. didn't really do anything asked him his symptoms and after hearing the first couple just shook his head and said "kidney stones" he prescribed Tylenol 3 w/ codien (sp?) for the pain which helps temporarily, but my husband has had problems with kidney stones since he was a kid and he swears that it doesn't feel anything like kidney stones. His symptoms are as follows:
*pain starting as a dull pain in the right side just below the ribs and becomes increasingly sharper
*consipation
*nausea only when sharp pain
*pain will radiate to right lower back
*pain will also radiate into groine area
*applying pressure can releave pain slightly
*pain usually is worse in morning before eating, but can become painful just after eating.
*acidic or spicy foods seem to irrate the pain and bring it on
*crainberry juice seems to help releave it
If anyone can help or has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated as we really are at our wits end as to what this could be or how to go about finding a dr. that doesn't have a "GOD" complex as our last dr. really didn't listen to the symptoms before giving his diagnoses!

Yes we have another appt. with a dr. on the 17th of this month, but his pain has really become intense, and he has gone through his meds that were previously given. I've been on line looking up all his symptoms and everything seems to lead back to his gallbladder so maybe we finally have a self diagnoses! Hopefully the dr. we see on the 17th will really look into the issues we present and help my hunny find some relief! My husband has seen him before and likes him so maybe it will all workout! The only problem is that his father is going into surgery for his back the 17th so we are suppose to take a 5 hour trip directly after my husbands visit. Hopefully it will be something easily treated w/out surgery too as my husband is the only one working right now since I am a stay at home mother!

OMG! Prescribed pain medication and called it a day! That's terrible! Can you get in to see a specialist? If your doctor thinks it's kidney stones, can he refer you to a nephrologist? If not, I would try to see another doctor altogether. I had to do this. I picked up the phone and called my insurance company and pled my case. I got a 2nd opinion for my issues. It helped. Got a diagnosis...and finally a surgeon will see me.

Sometimes you have to go through a bunch of doctors until you find the right one.

Hope he feels better soon!
