Light/yellow stool.

I've had irritable bowel syndrome from 12 years now, I am currently 19. My IBS for these past 12 years has predominately been diarrhea, and I would normally get an attack once a day. These last few months, I've been going through a good period with very few attacks, but this past weekend I was hit suddenly with horrible constipation. It started with abdominal tenderness near my pancreas, but over the next two to three days it began to become tender on my whole left side of the abdomen and a little in my upper right with random dull aches or pains that would last a second or two. I wasn't having any bowel movements at this time so I went to an urgent care facility on the fourth day and the doctor wasn't very helpful. He put me on antibiotics for diverticulitis which I didn't need at all (I saw my GI yesterday who told me to stop them). Following the visit to urgent care I began to feel worse and realized I had to be very constipated as I felt this continuous pressure in my back and sides and my abdomen was bloated and hard (like most people experience when constipated). I began taking 2 tablespoons of psyllium husk a day that day, but still couldn't managed to have a BM and at one point I couldn't even pass gas. The next day I was able to pass very little stool a few times but barely anything and as expected it was more mushy than normal. Yesterday and today I have been managing to have quite a few BM's still not very large/normal but it has seemed to clear up the abdominal tenderness and pressure and at this point I'm no longer constipated, but still passing what I guess is left over from the initial constipation. My issue now is the stool is still mushy, which I am not too worried about but the stool is more of a lighter brown colour and it is yellow on the toilet paper. I have been passing mucus with it as well but that isn't uncommon with my IBS, I may have noiced once or twice very small clear gel like chunks on the toilet paper as well, I'm not sure if this is just mucus.
The first few days I was feeling feverish, but didn't run a fever, I was nauseous and from the first day until I went to urgent care, so 4 days I had little to not appetite and was basically only eating jello or high fiber cereal.  All of these symptoms have since subsided.
Could this discolouration be from my IBS? I was also on Flagyl which my pharmacist mentioned could discolour stool (she didn't mention what colour) but I have been off of these for two days.

Thanks, I go for a colonsocopy/endoscopy the second week of August. I'm hoping this just from those 2 days of taking Cipro and Flagyl. I hope you feel better as well!

Hi, I took flagyl and cipro a couple weeks ago for diverticulitis and it also changed the color of my bm to a lighter color. That lasted for allmost a week.Dident do much to help the pain in my lower left side though and was not easy to swallow as it would try to desolve before i could get it down.I  to  passed clear gell like mucus.I had a colonscopy and a barium enema, havent heard from the test yet from the colonscopy am waiting on that but the barium test showed extensive diverticula.I have pretty bad constipation to and take citricell. My pain hits during and for a couple hours after a bm.I understand how you feel as bowel problems can just make you want to stop eating but we have to eat to live.I eat mostly fiber foods but still have to take stool softeners.I also have back pain when sitting but not when walking.Hope this helped some and you keep feeling better.

I also wanted to note that I still experience back pain, usually just when sitting for long periods of time or in a certain position. The pain can shoot up to my shoulder blades from time to time as well.
