Is it Gerd?

I am 70 yr old female and have had GERD for many years.  Scoped regularly, last being 2 yrs. ago and everything ok.  Recently I have had a feeling of food not going down, nausea (vomited once) and much burping after I eat.  Can't get into my GI for another month and he said to try Zantac 2xday, which has not helped.  I am already on Omeprazole 40mg daily.  I am to say the least, miserable and concerned.  Any comments appreciated.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include dietary causes, GI infections, inflammations, GI motility issues, GERD complications, growths/ masses, hormonal/ endocrine issues, medication side effect etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician or a gastroenterologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Meanwhile you could try taking some OTC anti-emetic and anti-spasmodic medications and see if these seem to help.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
