left abdominal pain and rectal spasms

I have left abdominal pain/pressure that comes and goes, if you insert middle finger of your left hand into belly button and swing your thumb around, it is in that general area.  Also I have pain/pressure/spasms in my rectal area, I guess it would be high enough that I couldn't reach it.  No bleeding and no pain on having bowel movements.  Doc told me to monitor it and come back if it continues.  ANy thoughts?

they want to rule out colitis so i have a colonoscopy scheduled for this saturday. lucky me

just returned from Colon Specialist, and got results of my CT scan.  I have diverticulosis

does get worse when i eat certain foods, i just haven't figured out what those foods are yet.  Pain is brand new, only starting last friday.  Sometimes 2-3 hours after a meal, I have severe pain in the lower abdomen, sometimes nothing...

Hmm is it worse when you eat or drink certain things? Inflammation to the intestines could be caused by certain things like celiac or crohns. You should get tested for those definatley. I would not be surprised if you found it hard to gain weight since he said you were severely inflammed?

Update:  Had digital rectal exam; doc noted SEVERE inflammation and spasms.  CAT scan tomorrow...

also blood tests came back normal, urine came back with micro blood and some protein, but the follow-up test came back normal.  Doc thought the first test could have been because i was in ER for 7 hours.
