MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Pain in sternum is usually caused by an injury to the chest area .Overstressing the muscles or ligaments in the chest can lead to costochondritis. Tietze syndrome, or inflammation in the rib cage, can also give rise to a sharp pain in the chest which can become more severe with movement or breathing. Heartburn can cause burning sensation in the epigastrium. In very few cases it can indicate serious causes like a heart attack. It is best to get a clinical examination done. You may need tests like X-ray chest and ECG depending on the clinical findings. Keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
