I have the same thing. How depressing to think some people have had this for years. I have to cry just thinking about this. Please post comments and tell us what you find out. I have three young children and I am a teacher. How can I continue teaching with this (I have had this for 3 months now). PLEASE HELP!

I have not belched for 24 hours. This is what I did and plan to do:
First, I went to another doctor who recommended that I stop taking Nexium 40 and Flexulex and start taking Imogas(Simeticon) and Motiliumlingual (aspartam). After two doses I stopped burping (I will continue this for the next 10 days, I think). The doctor recommended the following steps:
Second, consciously attempt to stop your belches- obviously you can`t do this if the belching is consistent but try to do it while you take the medicine.
Third, an almost nothing diet- toast bread, over cooked rice, homemade chicken- brothsoup and banana for the next 3 days.
Fourth, after that,  will be on a one week lactose free diet.
Fifth, ginger tea three times a day. (Slices of ginger boiled in water for approximately 10 minutes)

I would also like to add, so that  can hear some responses from the females out there, and maybe a doctor; I use the Minerva anti-baby IUD and for the first time after 1 year I have gotten the left overs of a period- dark brown smears. Could this be related to the condition worstening- my condition was terrible for the past two weeks?

I hope that this works. I`ll keep you posted.

To: any one out there
I am dying here.... I have been at this for 6 years..... I can not take it anymore, I have had scopes, blood tests, I took medication, I changed diets, I stopped cabs, peppers, tomatoes, anything you can imagine,,, I burp no matter what..... its comes from mid-chest and rummbles all the way out.. many times in with out intent, other I forces to relieve myself

I have seen 3 doctors for this, no progress made with their recommendations. I am sure whatever is wrong with all of us, its a similar issue across the board.

I think we should all state our diet, medication, and activity over a one week period and see what is in common across the board. We can then eliminate one item at a time.

Thoughts?

I too have been having this feeling, accompanied with the feeling of something in my throat, although no pain or heartburn, and my burps don't seem at all acidic just like alot of air. It all started at the beginning stages of a cold, I flew while I had a cold, so thought that it was related, it pretty much came out of nowhere! Well this is going onto my 4th month with this, I relatively feel good, but the feeling of this gurgling burp that comes from my mid breast bone area into my throat really is getting to me, I went and saw a doctor, he said I was fine. I've been researching on the net, and came across this board, and am glad to have found others who are dealing with this same annoyance as well. I've tried cutting coffee right out of my diet, but think I will go back to the doctor for some more testing. Anyone else have this start up after a cold? I also don't have any problem with it while sleeping, most of the time I can't wait to go to sleep, so I don't have to deal with it.

To: To all of you
I've only been belching for a few weeks, but I've had other digestive problems my whole life.  I just saw a doctor who said I have aerophagia, but I belch constantly - like every 5 seconds - all day long.  I stopped eating, but the belching continued like before.  I even started throwing up, even when I barely had anything in my stomach.  How could this really be from unconsciously swallowing air?  It feels like an involuntary reflux.  And when I take protonix it seems to make the symptoms much better.  But my GI doctor claims this drug shouldn't be helping since aerophagia has nothing to do with reflux.  I don't know if I believe him.  I feel there must be something else going on.  He says he could see me swallowing the air in right there in the office, but I can't NOT swallow the air!  So many of you have described what I feel - pain, 1000 belches a day, weird feelings in my throat.  I feel like even if I have aerophagia, it's being caused by something else.  I am terrified after reading how all of you have been struggling with this for so long.  After three weeks I already feel like my life is in shambles!  Any new solutions out there?  Any insights?
