Pain in upper left abdomen

I have been having this pain in my upper left abdomen, under left breast.  I've had a mammography, and all is normal.  The pain is occasional.  Has anyone had this?  I'm having a colonscopy in a few days, but I don't think the test goes that far into the abdomen.  I have had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and all was fine.  If anyone has had this, please let me know.  Thanks

I've occationally had pain like this due to GERD/reflux/heartburn or esophageal spasms.  Does the pain ever correlate with anything you've eaten?

My colonoscopy is just routine.  Gastro dr. Wants his patients to have one every 5 years.  The pain I've described started two weeks ago.  I mentioned it to him and he said he thinks it's gas.  I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  A colonoscopy looks at your large intestine and the last part of your small intestine.  Is the reason why you are having the colonoscopy related to your problems?  Are you having any GI problems?
