Painful Bowl Movement

I am hoping I am doing this right and in right spot. So here it goes:

I am almost 25 years old. I have never had any problems up to this point. It all started earlier this month when i had a UTI and Kidney Infection. My dr put me on antibiotics and it all seemed to clear up. However I started itching and had horrific pain while having a bowel movement. I almost passed out from the pain, it was the most painful thing. Then after I went the pain seemed to ease up but I was still sore. I have had blood in underwear 3 times now, not an enormous amount or anything but obviously blood. Also had some on toilet paper and outside of stool. How much I go has also changed. I went from going every 2-3 days to having a movement everyday, either small amount or normal amount. I do not have diahria or anything of that nature. I have noticed my stool is green though, and the past week after I go to bathroom I have stool secretion of sorts, I must wear a pad. I have tried hot baths, baths wtih epsom salt...I though at first maybe it was hemmroids so I tried creams and wipes, nothing is helping at all. I am at the point where I just want it all to go away, however I do not go to dr and I guess I just keep making excuses not to go, in hopes it will just go away. I am just lost as to what it may be. I dont strain to go to bathroom or anything, so wasnt sure what would have gave me hemmroids, if thats what is was. Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you again!!

Thanks so much for your information. I appreciate it very much! I do have a question though, I didnt have any constipation, or hard stool. Can all this still happen without those? I also drink bottle water everyday, and the yogurt I eat at lunch every day is Actavia. I will try eating salad too along with the KY, I will try anything for sure! Its become much more of an annoyance as the time drags on lol. I guess I will give it til Monday then make an apt if its not clearing up. Thank you again!!

Well, what happened is, the antibiotics kill both "good" and "bad" bacteria in the guts.  As a result, some kinds can cause dreadful constipation.  The stuff backs up and gets dry and hard, and when you FINALLY have a bowel movement, it's like passing broken glass.  Also, the more frequent bowel movements now have to do with what was backed up behind the hard, dry waste, and so will take a little while to get out of there.  The blood was from the waste tearing the delicate tissues, which when they swell up from such a big movement, it creates hemorrhoids.  Those things will bleed and itch like crazy, but they do stop after a while of healing.  The secretions are coming out because that area was stretched a little from the large bowel movement, and this too will settle down after a while.

There is one other thing that COULD be going on, and that's a tearing of the tissues (hemorrhoids), which may have gotten infected and is abscessed, in which case a doctor will need to drain that little puss formation, OR you may have actually torn a little place where the waste goes out and isn't healing up very well, which again a doctor can prescribe some medicine to put on the fissure to make it heal up.  So, sure, you should go visit a regular doc and he can either fix what's going on or he can refer you to a gastroenterologist if you need more involved help.  I know, going to the doc is a pain, especially when it has to do with something as personal as digestive issues, but they've seen stuff like this dozens of times each month, and they're used to it...better to get it fixed than be filled with pain for months.

In the meantime, there's a couple things you can do that will help A LOT with your symptoms, to where if you haven't gotten an abscess or fissure, might heal you up fine.  Get you some plain KY jelly at the drugstore, and after every time you bathe, put some of that all over the area, it will really help the pain involved in passing waste and comfort throughout the day.  Also, after you do number two, put some of that KY on a damp tissue and do the final wipe with that stuff.  There is also KY that you can take with you, and/or you can also get some baby wipes to help keep the area clean if you notice it leaking a little.  That is the key to pain relief, to keep the area clean and lubricated with KY.

Also, to restore the "good" bacteria that was in your intestines, which helps break down waste, for a couple weeks either eat Activia yogurt or drink Acidophilus milk.  That is the most important thing you can do for yourself whenever you finish up a round of antibiotics.  Also, drink extra water every day, helps digestion a lot.  And also eat some oat cereal and/or 100 percent whole wheat bread sandwich with lettuce and tomato daily.  Try eating spagetti with a salad for one of your evening meals each week, too, really helps digestion.  I hope some of this helps you, digestive issues are the WORST thing to deal with!
