Painful stools, discomfort

Back in 2002, At age 22, I had a colonscopy for rectal bleeding. It came up with nothing other than an anal fissure. I've had rectal pain pretty much ever since then off and on with bleeding here and there, but not any lately.

My stools are always different, sometimes solid, other times broken and very "loose". I often feel somewhat constipated and have a solid stool, that is followed by several smaller almost smushed stools. I also have pain when passing a stool and often it feels like the stool is pushing up against something on the way out and almost like it is "flipping" a little bit as it is on it's way out because it is pushing up against something it feels like. Sometimes I will eat something and have explosive bowel movements, I usually associate this with nervousness or anxiety however. I also have had very bad gas at times, and sometimes when going to the bathroom, the gas forces a solid stool out very fast and almost seems to cut it off at the end with force or the gas is followed by slight diarrhea at times too.

I've been eating high fiber and taking warm baths when time allows. I recently had a job where I sat the whole shift and perhaps made things worse.

I have a history of anxiety/nervousness and wonder if all this could be related to that or something more serious.

I had recently gone to a Doctor and he prescribed me with Nexium, saying that I probably just had a high acid level in my stomach. He said my rectal pain and different stools were very likely a cause of that as well. I've yet to start taking the nexium, kinda wanted a second opinion!

Any help/similiar experiences would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks

I wasn't really advised of anything to do to help heal it other than just a high fiber diet. I find that less sitting and moderate excercise help, and 15min baths etc.

I think it may be part of the problem, but perhaps another problem caused it to being with.

I am interested in your case as I have also learned that I have a fissure in my rectum.  What have you been advised to do to help heal that fissure? and do you see that as a key part of your current problem?

Colonscopy was done in 2002, and came back all clear, just an anal fissure. Most my life I've had different stools though, so not sure.

Changes in bowel habits need to be discussed with a doctor. When was this colonscopy done how long ago. When your stools are more narrow its a warning sign. Could be polyp of cancer or hemeroid. Please see a doctor.
