Parasite in the brain

Is it possible to have A parasite in your brain, but nowhere else in your body? How long would a parasite live inside a persons brain? How long after infection would it take for a the parasite to go from the intestine to the brain?

You are right. I Do have A LOT of anxiety, mostly medical related. Though, i always do my best to separate my anxiety from actual symptoms, especially in my current circumstances. Im dealing with Specialists looking for real problems, and i my body is telling me that there is something else going on. They are doing all that they can, and they are doing it with order and prudence, while still giving me the best care. I want to present the idea that i may have parasites, in one form or another, but considering how many people have said "ive got parasites" and showed nothing... i want to be discreet, and talk to them about it in a serious manner. So ultimately, im trying to get as Much information as Possible, before coming out and saying "Please keep an eye out for parasitic activity".

Im jjsut having a lot of trouble waiting until monday, when my appointment is for my brain stuff. And when my body is in limbo, it Can be very stressful. Im sure you can sympathize. I Do bring a lot of my troubles on myself, and make worse my actual condition, but my anxiety is only brought on by the symptoms i have. Ive made progress in some cases, but other things.. there is more in my life, that goes on, that allows me to have concerns about certain things. Whether some people may say they are reasonable or not.

Anyway, this isnt a psychiatric board, so lets get back to parasites.

Im talking about the kind of parasite that grows in your brain, and causes Neurocysticercosis.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  What you describe would be extrememly extremely rare.  The problem with the question you are asking is that "parasites" is a very wide term.  Parasites all have different lifespans, all have different places where they go in the body, etc.  It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety going on and I think it would be best to talk to your doctor about your concerns and see what they recommend.

Basically what im asking is.. Is it ONLY possible to get worms in your brain, if you Actually EAT the pork of an infected Pig?! Ive done all the reading i can do.. but there is NO definitive answer saying "you cant get parasites/worms in your brain from transfer from Fecal-oral human to human"!

GI is the best place for this thread. How about some insight?

It is likely that i have ingested human feces with eggs or larvae in it, by means of touching an infected surface, and sticking my hands in my mouth.

Am i potentially in danger of having a parasite attach itself to the inside of my small intestine and maturing, resulting in its journey to my brain?
