Please Help Me

Well I am 22 years old,Female.Last year i have been having really hard stools and constipated a lot and at times there was blood when i wiped my anus. At this time i really followed a poor diet with low intake of water. But this year the problem has aggravated. In the months Jan-Mar 2010 ,whenever i constipated i saw right red blood in my stools. I changed my diet since then. I started drinking at about 8 glasses of water per day and ate more vegetables and fruits. BUT this did not change much. I no more have those hard stools now(my stool is just normal). Since the month of May i've been farting mucus and on the mucus there are little drops of blood. Also at times there are mucus in my faeces and at times when i fart during my stool a lump of blood together with mucous comes out. I went to the doctor about 3 times. And 2 times the doctor told me it was internal hemorrhoid and gave me medicine which i believed did not have any effect since my symptoms were still here. And the 3rd time (3 days back) I went to the doctor she said that it was colitis and prescribed some antibiotics but my symptoms are still the same. Could that be colorectal cancer ??? No one in my family has a history of colorectal cancer...

I would think of colorectal cancer as a last resort. Chronic constipation can cause anal bleeding if rock-hard bowels are forced out of the rectum. Reports of this mention that blood is on toilet paper and blood present in the toilet bowl. There are several digestive disorders(25 in total)like Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS) and Ulcerative Colitis that can affect your bowels. Today, ulcers are caused by a bacterium, Helicobacter pylori, and is only killed with antibiotics. The simplish and cheapest ways to treat your chronic constipation is with probiotic bacteria and digestive enzymes. In my opinion, you need to reorient your bowels with probiotic substances that can change the stomach flora to good bacteria that monitor your gut.. Antibiotics kill both the good and bad bacteria and can lead to diarrhea. Think of your stomach flora as your home's lawn. One side of lawn is green(good bacteria), and the other side of the lawn is brown(bad bacteria). You must return your stomach flora(good bacteria)to a healthy place with daily bowel movements. This is not a sales pitch! Eight months ago, I was near chronic constipation when I discovered probiotics substances that corrected my hard bowels to soft bowels to expell from my colon. In one week, I was able to have daily bowel movements with one capsule a day. Advertised colonics can deplete your system of necessary electrolytes that regulate your heart and arrihythmia. Sodium, Potassium. and Magnesium electrolytes are necessary to maintain your health.

Product names of Theralac and Enzalase are probiotic bacteria and digestive enzymes(12). Using these products for one week can help to return to digestive tract to a normal condition. Go to www.theralac.com and www.enzalase. com, and read the advertisements. In the meantime, you may use Fleet's mineral-oil enemas and Fleet's regular enemas and a good and safe, temporary laxative, Duclolax, 5-mg.

To research your digestion system. there is a federal website that list digestive disorders from A to Z. Go to http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov, and read about digestive reasons for your constipation and more.

Good luck.

It sounds like your primary doctor if that is who you are seeing is taking too much on, diagnosing you without appropriate testing?  Did they at least give you an occult (hidden) blood stool kit?  You should ask for a referral to a GI specialist.  The source of the rectal bleeding is what they should want to pinpoint, whether it be a hemorrhoid, a fissure, a polyp or something else, you should be getting the proper diagnostic testing when your problem is being evaluated.  It is good to get the worst (colorectal cancer) ruled out with testing if possible, even though you you don't know of any family history.

Also, ask your doctor for iron and ferritin (iron stores) testing, because with menstruation and rectal bleeding, you very probably are iron deficient, and even if you have had a normal CBC (complete blood count) recently, that does not mean you can not be iron deficient, so ask your doctor for blood iron and ferritin testing.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  First off, it is very unlikely that you have colorectal cancer.  I would recommend making an appointment with a GI doctor and getting a colonoscopy.  Because this has been happening for so long you really need to get a colonoscopy.  Good luck.
