Please help!!

Hello,
my name is Daniela, I am writing to know if somebody can give me an idea what is going on with
me.
QUICK SUMMARY OF RELEVANT MEDICAL HISTORY

-My stomach problems started in Tulsa. New country, new language, playing tennis everyday, competition etc. Also pressure to keep scholarship.

-Second year at Tulsa (2003) I had a situation where I threw up so much and for so long that they had to put me an IV

-A Gastroenterologist saw me and told me that I had acid reflux, tested me for ulcers but none found. Prescribed me Reglan and Nexium. Didn’t help much.

-By the forth year at Tulsa, I had situations of anxiety. ( before it started to happen, I had a vacation in Argentina where it was very very hot and without air conditioning, I think that it triggered something related with the anxiety because during that vacation I had similar feelings) After feeling anxious, I would vomit. Throwing up would calm me down.

-During my last year in Tulsa it was a nightmare, EVERYTHING would trigger anxiety and nauseas.  I was feeling very depressed at that time.

-I had a psychologist and a Doctor who diagnosed Severe anxiety. They gave me some medicine for anxiety to take. Don’t remember the name.

-I took something for anxiety during almost a year
.
-Moving from Tulsa, the anxiety happened much less but it still would occur in some moment. However, there are moments where the anxiety comes back. But it also leaves.

-It happened that I went back to Argentina during the summer month and half ago. It was a very hot day and during the night I walked up and throw up everything and also had diarrhea. During the following day I almost slept the whole day, I did not have energy not even to talk. Went to the doctor and they told me that was a bacteria or virus, don’t remember. They gave me a diet and a day after I was ok.

-I Came back from Argentina and I had again a situation of anxiety. Nervous, scared, nauseas, vomit etc.

-It comes and goes. In my opinion there is something that is triggering this feelings.

-Now I don’t have an anxiety feeling since the last one happened after coming back from Argentina month ago approx.

-However, the last 4 days after I wake up I had terrible nauseas, after “throwing up” (nothing really, just the bile) I start to feel better. It happened 4 days in a row.

-Today is the first day that this does not happen.

Symptoms:

Sometimes I feel mucous is passing through my throat.  And I swallow it  (which creates a nauseaus feeling).

Cervical situation

A bad nauseous cough. Mixed of nauseas with a cough. When I cough it feels that help to don’t feel the nauseas. It stop it for a second but then the nauseas happen again and the cough comes back with it. It is aggravated when I do exercises. But it also happens when not doing exercises

A lot of air (burp) coming from my mouth after eat and when I stand up from a laying
position.

I cant have a weight on my stomach.( example if my husband put his hand on my belly, it bothers me) It feels like I am missing oxygen.

My parents had both thyroid problems. My mom took a pill everyday of her life. My father's was discovered recently after a big period of depression.  He is now medicated.

My sister has very similar symptoms as me -- but less anxiety situations. She throws up when is very nervous for some reason also has the same nauseous cough. She gets very stressed out. Also Doctors found that her body created an antibody for the Thyroid problem that my mom had. The name is Hipotiroisdismo de jashimoto.(in spanish)

I got a blood test from my last Doctor and he said that I have a thyroid antibody. Thyroblobulin AB 45.4 IU ml
I dont know what it means. I hope this is the beggining of starting to get better. At least if I know what I have I can treat it.
Thank you so much for reading my story!

I would appreciate any comment.

Daniela

Thanks for your response! I already tried psychotherapy I still think that there is a chemical problem with me. May be  something related with my thyroid.
Thanks

You have so many pressures on you right now, I'm not surprised you're constantly nauseated!  I think you've about exhausted ruling out a physical problem, so it's time to turn to dealing with the anxiety.  Please consider speaking with a psychologist, counselor or even an clergyman if you're more comfortable starting there.  Anxiety, as you now know from bitter experience, can cause very real and dangerous physical problems.   Your anxiety is at such high levels that I don't think you'll be able to find a little magic pill to make it all go away.

Psychotherapy is nothing to be ashamed of.  The shame is in not trying it because other people attach a stigma to it.  Too many times we think we should be able to handle these things by ourselves when we really need professional therapy.  And no, that doesn't mean you're crazy.  It does mean you have a valid problem that a psychotherapist can help you with.  There are any number of biofeedback and relaxation techniques that a therapist can help you learn to stop the anxiety before it escalates into a full blown panic attack - or in your case, vomiting.  Best of luck, and hope you get to feeling better soon.
